How long you need to use the long leash for the dog to do the recall even if doesn't have leash. I feel my dog knows when he has leash or not...so he will nail the recall when I 'm using the long leash but sometimes not when he doesn't have the leash on. I'm confused on what to do.

I love how you teach and the psychological concepts. I have a question. For an American Staffordshire Terrier should I use a prong collar? She is 3 years old. She knows some commands from her previous owner. We went for our first walk this morning. She is teachable and we are building our relationship. I wanted to make sure that I didn't by mistake make her aggressive or damage our relationship. I am going to train her to be my Service Dog. Should I use a prong collar? Doing all of this research since I was adopting "Sky", too much information will confuse the heck out of a person. Outside of teaching and training for her to qualify for a service dog. I'm just going to stick with you. Clear and information the way I like it!. This is WHY you do this. This is HOW they think. This concept ... I greatly appreciate you.

Then why did you make the video. Lol I mean my dogs are professionally trainee (btw there are no regulations on the 'professional' dog training industry) so this is mixed advice. If you don't want to be held liable just make a disclaimer not some fear mongering

very useful video and makes a lot of sense. most videos recommend one step solutions like it is not a big deal, but building compliance is a stepwise manner is a key concept.

The best thing that I did for my dog is chuck all things dog training in the bin and go back to my “old ways”, taking to heart and following advice from Mark Dubose and this guy (Robert): ua-cam.com/video/6fYdHUnSl4w/v-deo.htmlsi=89EVuGgfmP4LWKpH

Wow! Ty so much, this is so much reinforcement! I am currently working with a 3-5 year old rescued Malamute. She was abandoned by a transient who had not done much in the way of training. Adopted her after 206 days in foster care. She has been a challenge, but our approach is very much in line with yours. Would love to touch base if possible.

Some of these comments are beyond stupid , fools wanna play semantics and have too much of a smooth brain to understand what’s being shown and said … It’s simple & to the point of what he’s trying to advertise. Good stuff sir 🫡

My recall was ok but not as quick as I wanted. Then one day my dog was in the yard and I was inside showing my daughter how loud I could whistle, the dog flew through the back door like she was on fire 😂 thats my recall now

  • @melaniec.908

I think you are probably a great trainer and can get almost any dog trained…. However… I KNOW for a fact that even the most aggressive dogs do NOT require a prong collar to be trained. You are using PAIN and of course they will respond. Joel Beckman has 100’s of videos showing the most leash reactive, aggressive dogs how to not only FIX aggression, but easily elicit loose leash walking. He has his own methods and he does not have to use PAIN! I disagree with this method because several times, these dogs “cried” from pain. I am a dog trainer so I know what I’m talking about furthermore Beckman has shown 1000’s of people including myself that it is not necessary to apply pain to train any dog. He uses techniques that may not be welcomed by the dog, even uncomfortable, but I have NEVER seen his dogs yelp with pain…. Not once. He believes if they hit the end of a leash, they self consequence. They don’t like it, so they eventually stop. He does not need a prong collar or e collar to do this. So why use pain to train? He by far is the most experienced trainer and not only has he trained 1000’s of dogs and wolves, coyotes, lions and whales. PERIOD!

What about say you let it out the back door then it comes back in do you have to give it permission to go back out again or say the frontroom or kitchen if you give permission then it comes back in do you need to give it permission again? Im confused on hiw concistent you need it: like say im going in the front room from the kitchen and have the doors open ive gave it permission to exit kitchen and enter frontroom but then it wants to go back in kitchen to get a drink, do i need to give it permission to exit the kitchen and enter the frontroom again?

I'm very much a novice in terms of training my dog (6 m/o Husky Female), but I have found the dynamic treating to be very helpful in encouraging my dog to perform certain movements I want them to do like walking by my heel and it kind of gets them to start doing it subconsciously as they are trying to eat from my hand.

For me it was mostly about just distracting him with treats by allowing him to sniff them when other dogs would pass by and if he didn’t bark I’d give it to him…that worked pretty well for my pup

Today is the first time i been here...and from what I've watched...i like your channel. You seem to be very knowledgable and very passionate about the welfare of our four-legged friends. I have a pitbull crossed w/ border collie. And she very spirited and a bit of a puller, but with your toutaledge i know we can settle her down at bit to be calmer on a leash. Shes good with me but no so much with her mom. So thank you for the pointers and ill be sure to let you know how i fare. Thank you sir for your time. 😀👍

Relationship is so important . My father in law has 6 dogs on the ranch. None in which he has trained that much. However they follow him to the end of the world. Listen when he calls. And guard the ranch with their life with little to no training. The relationship he built was through time , working together, and sleeping close .

Hi, I have a question, I was just about to start training my dog loose-leash walking but I remembered that her recall is in shambles and does not listen to it so I was just wondering if I should fix her recall first or train her to loose-leash first. She is a 2 year old labradoodle female (I don’t think gender has anything to do with it but just in case it does)

You recommend prong collar, which I didn’t mind for my German shepherd. Buy now I have a toy poodle, I can’t imagine putting on a prong collar on this tiny thing. You don’t have small dog in the video only the big guys. We small dog owners would like to see loose leash training as well
